The Mary Seacole London trip took place on the 5th of May 2022. The trip’s aims were to visit historical sights and learn about Mary Seacole’s life and accomplishments. In doing this we aim to upskill the people who attend the trip and raise their aspirations, giving all participants all the information, they need to have the ability to understand the ethos that Mary Seacole had and the impact her ethos has had on other people throughout the years.
We took a small group of residents and young people to London and visited the Museum of London, the Mary Seacole theatre workshop, and Mary Seacole’s Memorial statue. We all travelled to London together on the national rail and had fun learning loads of new information about Mary Seacole. The theatre experience was amazing and educated us on the life of Mary Seacole and some of the struggles that she had faced.
Once we had finished visiting all of the locations, we had a group meal at the Happy restaurant in Covent Garden, where participants had the opportunity to talk about their thoughts on Mary Seacole’s life and discuss quotes that Mary Seacole used to say.

We also did more filming this month for the project and had an interview with Keith and his daughter to chat through working with Desline Stewart.
