Heritage Gardening Project
This activity was looking at the heritage of Mary Seacole Housing Association and the timeline of the organisation over the years. Participants have been creating a heritage vegetable patch at the back of the garden at Seacole House, and it’s an area where people can learn about the heritage of the organisation. The plan was to create a relaxing space where people can visit and enjoy the area.
Mary Seacole residents have been looking after the heritage garden at Seacole house. They have been watering fruit and vegetable patches and they have been using the produce grown in their daily cooking. This month the residents participated in an activity making a healthy salad this month. They learned how to cut the vegetables, clean them and then they used them in their salad. Feedback from this session was that all participants really enjoyed themselves, and they stated that they felt very proud to have grown the food that they are eating and that they want to continue to grow new things!
