We help our clients to re-evaluate where they are and to build their strengths and skills through encouragement, advice and supported learning.
Each of our clients has a keyworker who supports them on a one-to-one basis. As well as offering encouragement and advice, the keyworker will put together a personalised training and development support programme. This will identify any gaps in knowledge and experience and will take into consideration each of the client’s individual needs, goals and aspirations.
The support plan could include advice on well-being, domestic skills such as cooking and DIY, welfare, housing, finances as well as formal training, education, work experience and support into employment. It may also include ways of helping clients express themselves or overcome personal difficulties through outlets such as drama, fashion, dance, music and photography.
Mary Seacole’s core belief in supporting people is to develop their strengths on asset based approach. We encourage our clients to make life changing decisions this way, enabling them to reach their full potential and live fully independent lives.
“I really feel that one of the best things about being in Mary Seacole Housing Association is the staff that you get to work with. They really support you with your needs and provide a friendly and safe environment, where you can be yourself and not be judged. I feel like I can achieve anything that I set my mind to. I am constantly setting new goals and I will achieve them all. Plus, I know if I am ever stuck, I can always reach out to Mary Seacole for support!” – Sara
