Welcome Harmony Packs

Luton is well known for the way it supports our refugee families. However, it is not just adults and families who come to the UK in search of safety; unaccompanied children, some as young as under 14 years old, also seek Britain’s protection.

So in response to this we would like to create a range of culturally specific and sensitive welcome packages for migrant children, including separated migrant Children (UASC), newly arriving in Luton.

The packages will contain culturally sensitive products but will also include any other items which may make them feel at home. Bespoke Packages will be of high quality and attractively packaged, with literature linking to useful local information and messages of comfort and hope.

When we talk about culturally specific items, these may also include ethnic food or sundries that the child will recognise and may not have seen on their long arduous journey to Luton. Can you imagine how exciting it would be for the child to open the welcome pack and find recognisable. “goodies” or something that represents their ethnic and cultural diets.

There is already so much in place for vulnerable people in Luton, with regards to donations however, we want these packages to be more than just a handout. We want them to display a message of hope and bring some respite to the parents, or the child and make them feel seen and valued.
