Strength in Diversity: Listening, Learning, and Leading Change for Neurodiverse Families.

Strength in Diversity is a community-led research project that brings together families, professionals, and researchers to address the health and educational inequalities experienced by Black, African, Caribbean, and South Asian families raising neurodivergent children in Luton. In collaboration with the University of Bedfordshire, and supported by public health stakeholders, the project will explore the lived experiences of families navigating systems such as education, health, and social care.

Through focus groups, interviews, and stakeholder roundtables, we aim to test the hypothesis that families from Global Majority backgrounds need greater advocacy, culturally relevant education, and empathetic support to overcome barriers. The findings will inform the development of a targeted, community-rooted service model—designed not just to meet immediate needs but to contribute to long-term systemic change.
