BRINGING EDUCATION TO THE FOREFRONT
When we think of education we generally think of children or young people. At Seacole’s Academy, we believe that learning is for everyone, and we want to be able to give all participants the chance to explore their likes and grow on their strengths. By launching Seacole’s Academy in our community.
We will create better opportunities and improve services offered to individuals and those who have not had opportunities to explore their interests; and those who have not fulfilled their goals because of negative experiences in training facilities.
Our ambition is to engage our community by making learning a happy and fulfilling experience to develop aspirations for sustained futures. We must protect and cherish the most vulnerable and troubled people in our society.
We cannot operate in isolation. We will create a stable and ambitious core focus group of enthusiastic partner agencies, and engaging participants will be the ingredients of our success. We hope to gain and improve trust and confidence in what we offer. The greater freedoms of Seacole’s Academy intention give us the chance to work in different and creative ways to improve participants’ lives now and in the future. We will do this via our new and innovative training model and have aspects of the model that have been tried and tested in one easy, accessible central location.

We have gained invaluable experience in working with diverse groups, including those who have faced barriers to education and training. Our comprehensive approach combines empathy, expertise, and personalised support to ensure that every participant receives the guidance they need to succeed.

We have meticulously designed our curriculum to be easily accessible and conveniently located in one central location. Tiered learning means putting people in groups based on what they already know about a subject. This helps everyone learn at their own pace and reach the standards for their standing.
In tiered learning, we give different tasks to small groups of students based on how ready they are to do them.
1. Referral
Someone or the individual themselves refers them to the program.
2. Skills Assessments
We figure out what the individual is good at and what skills they have.
3. Online Training
We offer training so they can learn online, in their own time.
4. Taster Workshops
Try out short sessions to see if they like them.
5. Accredited Courses
Complete short courses that are recognised and approved.
6. Work Experience
Get hands-on experience in a real work setting.
7. Paid Employment
Finally, the individual can start a job and get paid for work. We support them to find and sustain employment.

At Seacole’s Academy, we have a range of Peer Mentors, who will be matched with the participants, depending on their interests and strengths. Peer mentoring is used in a one-to-one non-judgemental relationship in which a mentor voluntarily gives time to support and encourage the participants.
Peer mentors will provide advice and guidance whilst acting as a positive role models as they are Experts by Experience for the participants who require their support.
A peer mentor can help students understand program expectations or policies and help them navigate through their journey, to give them the tools to grow in confidence and achieve independence.
A peer mentor can help new participants identify whose interests might be aligned with theirs, and share their experiences and how they have reached a place in their lives where they are living fulfilled lives.
