Training

We are very proud of the Mary Seacole Housing Association training programme and facilities which help clients with their development and personal support plans.

Training takes place primarily in the dedicated training unit, which provides a supportive, informal and non-threatening environment for clients. The training unit is fully equipped with computers, screens and AV resources as well as appropriate facilities to support with life skills training.

Our training also links in to Luton Borough Council’s training programme and we work in partnership with other training providers and agencies in order to provide accredited and non-accredited courses and qualifications, work placements and employment opportunities.

For some of our clients, engaging with training and other activities can be a personal struggle. To help engage the particularly hard to reach clients, we have a dedicated Engagement Officer whose role is to understand what inspires and motivates each of our clients, helping them to get involved in inclusive activities and projects to support their development.

“I completed various training sessions whilst I was with Mary Seacole, such as: Level 1 in IT, First Aid, Job Assistance, Level 1 in Plumbing and gained a CSCS card. The training was always fun and enjoyable and I felt motivated to learn due to the laid back attitude of the staff in the Training Unit.” – Solance
