Let’s Not Forget Project – September

Heritage Naming Ceremony Prep

This month we have been planning for our heritage naming ceremony and heritage event. In addition to this we have been filming for the heritage documentary and have filmed two more interviews so far this month. We have also been working on the online gallery, and we are currently sourcing evidence for the timeline.

We have also been working alongside some residents to prepare for the Let’s Not Forget heritage event, that will be held at the Hat Factory on Wednesday the 19th of September 2022 from 12 pm till 3pm. This event will be a place where we can showcase the work that we have been doing on this project over the past few months. Residents at Mary Seacole have been making their herbal remedies and have been involved in the planning of the different stations that will be located around the room to represents the project.

The Mary Seacole residents also got involved and helped with the planning for the house naming ceremony. They have helped sourced what information needed to be on the plaque and also helped with the overall design of the plaque. This was then sent off to be made and will be used at our house naming day at the training unit 30/32 Brantwood road, on the 10th of October 2022 from 1pm, where we will be expecting a very special guest, Mrs Desline Stewart MBE.

Feedback from some of the participants that have been involved is that they have really enjoyed working on this and that they are looking forward to these events.
