Let’s Not Forget Project – August

Heritage Garden Party

Over the month of August, we looked at the heritage of the staff Mary Seacole Housing Association. We focused on one of our long-standing staff members Mr. Colvin Jones. He has been employed at Mary Seacole Housing Association for 25 years and is still currently working at Mary Seacole. He has shown dedication and commitment in supporting some of the most vulnerable people from our community and continues to do so.

Mr. Jones celebrated a very special 90th birthday this year and we fell that it was essential to celebrate this occasion and share his heritage with our staff team and residents. The staff and a few residents at Mary Seacole worked together to plan a special event, this event was planned to take place in Mary Seacole’s Heritage Garden. We chose this location as it would give us an opportunity to show case some of the work that we have been doing on the Heritage Project and showcase our achievements so far.

We invited Mary Seacole’s staff and some residents to come along and join us for a BBQ celebration and created an agenda which included having discussions on the heritage of the organisation, find out information on the project and hear about Mr. Jones heritage.

We had an amazing turn out for this event and managed to surprise Mr Jones with the celebration of his 90th Birthday. Mr Jones shared his experiences over the years of working with us and attendees managed to see some of the work we have done so far on the Heritage Project.
