The Friends of Mary Seacole were founded to support the clients of Mary Seacole Housing Association and various other local charities & organisations that work towards relieving hardship and distress.
Their aim is to organise fundraising events and activities throughout the year that will provide opportunities to network and ultimately raise money for the Association.
Some fantastic events have been organised to date including a family fun day at Brantwood Park, Luton in the summer and the very popular themed charity ball in the Autumn, which is an evening not to be missed!
The Friends also support various other fetes, festivals and functions in Luton throughout the year with our very own tea tent which is run by Mary Seacole female clients with complex needs, giving them an opportunity to gain great work experience.

Mary Seacole are proud supporters of the 2019 Police Cohesion Awards with one of our Friends receiving highly deserved recognition!
Rita James, a dedicated volunteer of The Friends of Mary Seacole, who is currently suffering from cancer, was chosen by the cohesion team for an award. Funds summing over £8,000 were raised in support of Cancer Research UK.
“Through the continued relationship between Mary Seacole and Bedfordshire Police, I introduced Rita to the Cohesion team and Rita is now well known throughout Beds Police for her dedication and hard work in the community!
We wish her the best of luck with her upcoming treatments and know she’ll show cancer who’s boss!” – Elaine Cruise
We will keep you updated with Rita: her battle and her amazing voluntary work within Bedfordshire.
